Mission Log: A Roddenberry Star Trek Podcast

Between seasons two and three of The Next Generation, we thought it would be a good time to check in with Marina Sirtis who played Counselor Deanna Troi. The outspoken and unfiltered Sirtis talks about the transitions in the first couple of seasons and how she managed to be the last woman standing after a tumultuous first year.

Riker gets stung. Then Riker has flashbacks. Was it poison or acid in that thorn? Interestingly, it was actually a sort of parasitic or symbiotic life form that… WHO CARES? IT IS A CLIP SHOW! William T. Riker, this is your life, when we put Shades of Gray in the Mission Log.

It is war-games a go-go when the Enterprise faces off against the Hathaway, a derelict ship commanded for the games by William T. Riker. Shooting, bobbing, weaving. It is all in good fun, until the Ferengi come in firing real weapons and demanding the Enterprise surrender the Hathaway. It may be time to abandon the Hathaway. Or maybe blow it up. Options are slim as we put Peak Performance in the Mission Log.

This week, a couple of blasts from the past. First, an old flame of Worf’s shows up. Then, a ship full of Klingons - frozen for 75 years and looking for a fight. She’s already been stuffed in a torpedo, so it should not hurt too much when we put The Emissary in the Mission Log.

It is the return of Lwaxana Troi. Ostensibly on an ambassadorial mission, she is in fact a woman on the prowl. Lwaxana is going through “The Phase,” a time in the life of a Betazed woman that ratchets her sex drive to 11. She must have a husband. While her sights are initially set on Captain Picard, when he proves elusive, no man is off limits. Who will be the lucky guy? Find out when we put Manhunt in the Mission Log.

They are smiley. They are pudgy. They are incredibly deadly. The Enterprise comes across a benign seeming race known as Pakleds. They have much technology, but the cannot make it go. Luckily, Geordi La Forge can. He can fix lots of things. So the Pakleds decide to keep him. Now the Enterprise has to get him back, and quickly. Captain Picard is on space station 515. He is about to die and he needs the help of the Enterprise. Can the crew save both men? Find out when the Mission Log gets caught in a Samaritan Snare

Our old friend Q is back. And he is taking the Enterprise to meet some new friends. They are not very friendly though. They destroyed Guinan’s planet 100 years ago. Guinan and Q are also old friends. Really old. They have known each other for 200 years. And they are not really friends. Brain full yet? There is still so much more to learn when we put Q Who in the Mission Log.

How long has it been since we broke the Prime Directive. Like REALLY broke the Prime Directive. Well get ready. The Enterprise is studying a system of planets, every one of which is literally falling apart. One planet turns out to be inhabited and Data has been communicating with a child on that planet. How will the Enterprise save her and her planet. Or should they? Find out when we put Pen Pals in the Mission Log.
